ATP NavigatorV© Case Study - Million Air

Million Air Salt Lake City Goes NavigatorV® Central

When Million Air- Salt Lake City (SLC) was ready to renew its licensing agreement for ATP’s NavigatorV® digital maintenance and regulatory library, it had to address a major implementation issue. In addition to its main facility at SLC, the operator also hosted NavigatorV® at its two other locations--Million Air-Provo in Utah, and at Northwest Aircraft in Aurora, Oregon. That proved to be “very cumbersome,” according to Andy Wilson, the company’s vice president, aircraft maintenance.

“Since each location was too small to have an IT staff, we had to depend on our mechanics to update the libraries as the CDs with the revisions came in from ATP,” said Wilson. “This created a very stressful situation, because mechanics are not trained to be IT experts as their primary skill. In fact, we found that the CDs might be used right away at one facility, while at another, they would sit on someone’s desk for three to five days before they were implemented. As a result, not every facility had access to the latest data in the library at the same time.”

In a practical sense, this meant that not all of the locations were necessarily in compliance with the latest regulatory changes, or maintenance-related updates. “Keeping everything updated was an enormous task, and at times, nobody was on the same page,” said Wilson.

“It (NavigaorV ®) has allowed us to offer a homogenous maintenance data product, because there is one tool, at one site, that delivers the same information to all locations.”
