45 Years of Innovation and Support for Business Sectors Obligated to Meet the Most Demanding Safety and Compliance Standards.
Before ATP was founded in 1973, general aviation maintenance facilities used paper technical publications that took up many shelves of space, or even entire rooms for large facilities. Updates were sent in the mail, and someone had to do the never-ending work of finding and replacing each updated page. The task was often overwhelming, and many facilities fell behind.
A History Of ATP In Aircraft Maintenance
ATP was founded in 1973 on the innovative idea of using technology to create a single source library service for maintenance operations. At first some people were skeptical that there was a better solution to paper. A potential partner even told ATP’s founders that there would never be a replacement for paper books. As we all know, innovation and ground-breaking ideas are hard to stop. And, over the next 45 years, ATP’s technologies and services transformed the way maintenance professional access and use information.
Since 1973 the company has continually worked with customers and OEM partners to innovate new technologies for accessing and managing critical information. In the 1980s, with the help of new mainframe and desktop computer technologies, the company introduced many innovative services that improved how maintenance professionals accessed safety and compliance information. One of these was the first electronic regulatory information resource for general aviation.
In 1992, ATP developed the first PC-based software for accessing Gulfstream aircraft technical publications. Within a short time, maintenance professionals could access the world’s largest selection of aviation technical and regulatory publications on CD-ROM from ATP. In 1998, ATP won the first competitive contract to provide a Regulatory Information System (RIS) to the FAA and has continually supported the safety efforts of regulatory agencies worldwide.
In 2007, ATP introduced the first European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulatory library for general aviation. And, it 2010, the company released the ATP Aviation Hub™ Cloud Application, which provides a single repository for regulatory and technical publications and aircraft profile and compliance tracking that is accessible anytime, anywhere over the internet. In 2016, ATP launched the ATP Aviation Hub Mobile Application that let’s maintenance professionals access and update maintenance information from any device, even out in the field where no internet connection is available.
In addition to developing new technologies, the company continues to evaluate potential partnerships and acquisitions that create synergistic value. In 2016 ATP announced the acquisition of CaseBank Technologies, Inc., an innovative leader in integrated diagnostic and troubleshooting solutions for fault isolation and defect trend analysis, for aviation, aerospace, defense, automotive, and other complex equipment industries.
In 2017, ATP launched the Aircraft Centricity™ service, which allows users to build a profile of the as-maintained configuration of an aircraft including all components, and then search and view maintenance content based on that profile.
