ATP CaseBank has proudly supported the aviation maintenance industry with technology and services that promote safety and reliability in aviation. Founded by a woman over 45 years ago, ATP is committed to the aviation maintenance industry, and has been a long-time supporter of Women in Aviation. We are honored to be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a woman pursuing the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licenses, with a passion and drive to work in general aviation.

Applicants for the scholarship were evaluated based on many criteria including academic performance, personal accomplishments, involvement in the general aviation community, future career aspirations, and a passion for general aviation. This year’s recipient is Bobbie Hicks, a woman who has worked in the aviation industry for over three years and was inspired to get her A&P licenses.

Bobbie Hicks - American AirlinesBobbie Hicks’ passion for the aviation industry began when she started working at American Airlines as a stock clerk. In this role, she was responsible for making sure that aircraft parts were airworthy and safe for flying. Realizing that she had an impact on the safety and reliability of flights was very important to her and inspired her to continue her education within the aviation industry.

The mechanics that Bobbie works with at American Airlines truly inspired her to pursue an aviation career and further her education by achieving Airframe and Powerplant licenses. In Bobbie’s words,

“Working in the hangar with all the mechanics and watching how they make sure our airplanes fly successfully is an awesome feeling. They work hard to make sure our planes are safe and reliable.”

Though pursuing her dream career, it has not always been an easy journey. Balancing home life, work life, and school life has been tough for the mother of two and grandmother of four. Bobbie is a true inspiration and an example that anyone can achieve their dream career at any point in their life, no matter how busy they are.

Congratulations Bobbie, we admire your enthusiasm and excitement for aviation maintenance, and the difference you strive to make in the aviation industry. Thank you for being an inspiration to everyone, representing #WomenInAviation and #PressForProgress.
