Veryon Announces the 2023 WAI Aircraft Maintenance Scholarship Recipient: Ashley Ribordy

Veryon Announces the 2023 WAI Aircraft Maintenance Scholarship Recipient: Ashley Ribordy

On February 23, 2023, at the 34th Annual Women in Aviation International (WAI) Conference in Long Beach, CA, ATP announced the 2023 recipient for their Aircraft Maintenance Scholarship to Ashley Ribordy, an aspiring Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) student.

Ashley began her career in the healthcare industry and was unfulfilled.  She was inspired, curious, and excited by her husband and friends’ work as aircraft mechanics. With support from family and friends, they encouraged her to begin looking into a career as an aircraft mechanic and enrolled as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) student at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology.

Currently, Ashley is the Secretary of Spartan’s AMT Society. This group of hard-working individuals is training to compete in the Aerospace Maintenance Competition held April 17–20, 2023, in conjunction with Aviation Week Network’s MRO Americas in Atlanta, GA. Teams representing educational institutions, commercial airlines, repair and manufacturing companies, general aviation and space compete to learn from one another and find out who's the best of the best. The Spartan AMT Society team will be competing in the safety wire competition and flaring on different tubing, which are both Ashely’s main interests.

After completing her A&P licenses, Ashley’s dream is to one day work on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

“I think a lot of young girls they would surprise themselves in this field. I have no experience doing anything like this and I've surprised myself with just my abilities and sometimes outsmarting my male counterparts.”

Ashley Ribordy, ATP’s 2023 Aircraft Maintenance Scholarship Recipient

ATP has proudly supported the aviation maintenance industry with technology and services that help everyone from business aviation teams and MROs to airlines and OEMs get their aircraft more uptime. Founded by a woman 50 years ago, ATP is committed to the aviation maintenance industry and has been a long-time supporter of women in aviation. We are honored to award a $1,000 scholarship to Ashley as she continues to pursue her A&P licenses, with a passion and drive to work in aviation.

Congratulations Ashley. We admire your passion for aviation maintenance and your recognition that a successful career in aviation for women is possible. Thank you for being an inspiration to everyone, representing #WomenInAviation and #PressForProgress.
