2) Map Out How You Want To Implement Your Strategy

Once the operator or maintenance shop identifies the benefits and goals for going mobile, it’s just a matter of deciding what equipment and services are required. “You document your goal, complete your planning, and then it’s a matter of implementing that strategy, ”explained Victor Sanchez, ATP’s Chief Product Officer. “This means deciding how you’re going to get access to the required information and making sure that everyone is on board with the mobile strategy.”

Some of the decisions involved include:

  • Where and how can I get mobile information access for maintenance technicians?
  • What types of devices the technicians will use –smartphones, tablets – or what do they need?
  • How do I create the basic infrastructure for wireless access?

Said Seiler, “You’re looking at a few simple decisions to implement the strategy.”

For some users the infrastructure already exists to capitalize on their mobile strategy; for others, that infrastructure may need upgrading or expanding.

ATP customers won’t face this task alone. “We can essentially help them learn what kind of infrastructure they need to set up and what devices will work best for the mobile access in a maintenance shop,” Sanchez said.

“With most people already having mobile devices today, we believe customers will have all of the basic understanding they need. And if they don’t, we can give them the direction they need to help them get up and running.”
